Bol.com launching French Language Version

Bol.com is the top marketplace in the Netherlands above eBay owned Marketplaats.nl and newly launched Amazon.nl. They currently have a Dutch and German language experience.

The new language, now known to be launching in June, has been on the cards since it’s announcement in September last year when Huub Vermeulen said “In 2010 we officially launched bol.com in Dutch-speaking Belgium. Since September 2014, we have been able to serve our Belgian customers even better thanks to the cooperation with local traders in Belgium. We are now also happy to share the expertise that we have built up over the past 20 years with traders from French-speaking Belgium, so that together we can offer a good local alternative.”

It is not known whether this is a direct response to Amazon launching in the Netherlands or just a natural expansion for the marketplace.

Bol.com generated just over $2.2Bn GMV last year and is ranked as the 40th site globally and has between 30 and 35% share of the Dutch market.
